Gamecenter: Lafayette 76, Army 68

Key Sequence: Lafayette came out to open the game gunning. Their first 6 shots were three-pointers, connecting on 4 of them. This helped them jump on Army with an early 7-point lead with 14:44 go to in the half. The early outside game helped soften up the middle for Schmidt who worked hard down low all night to give Fran O’Hanlon the offensive balance that he’s been looking for all season.

Key Sequence: With 15:19 to go in the first half, Olivero hit a lay-up to give Lehigh a 10-9 lead. Bucknell responded with 7 consecutive frontcourt points, getting 1 point from Brown, 3 from Darren Mastropaolo, and amazingly, a three-pointer from McNaughton, his second of the year. Before Lehigh could adjust, the Bison were off to the races.

All that talk about a renewed balance in the Patriot League? Well, the games have been close but the same few teams keep winning them. Half of the conference is now 1-4 in Patriot League play, and there’s two games of separation already between fourth and fifth place.

Key sequence: Bates was fouled tipping in a missed shot from Bell. He sank the ensuing free throw, giving Army a 44-43 lead. The following Army possession Bates struck again, hitting a three-pointer from the corner, to put Army on top 47-43 with 4:09 remaining.
