Bison, Mountain Hawks win; Navy drops another

Bucknell’s defense cracked down on the Towson Tigers, allowing them to shoot just 33.9 percent from the floor in a 71-57 win for the Bison. John Griffin scored a career-high 21 to lead Bucknell.

Navy gets rolled by Drexel

Navy failed in their quest to start the season 2-0, misfiring their way to an 86-70 loss to Drexel in Philadelphia. The Mids shot just 36.6 percent from the floor, while allowing the Dragons a 50.9 percent shooting percentage.

Holy Cross, Bucknell get revenge victories

Holy Cross avenged last year’s BracketBuster loss to Hofstra, knocking off the Pride 61-47 in Worcester. Pat Doherty led the Crusaders with 18 points and 4 assists. Alex Vander Baan had 15 rebounds, Adam May had 8 and Eric Meister 9 as Holy Cross outrebounded Hofstra 45-34.

Navy, Colgate start season on right foot; Leopards falter

Greg Sprink kicked off his season in style, scoring 28 points to lead Navy to an 88-72 victory at Longwood. Sprink added 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in a very good all-around effort.

American revolution: Eagles retool after graduation losses

Perhaps no Patriot League team is facing more questions in the upcoming season than American. Jeff Jones’ squad lost four of five starters, as well as sixth man Arvydas Eitutavicius, to graduation, and they break camp with seven new players on the roster. But rather than view that as a problem, Jones chooses to consider it an opportunity.
