Gamecenter: Princeton 44, Lafayette 42

Key Sequence: With 55 seconds left, a Betley drive produced a basket and a foul, which proved to be a pivotal three-point play, as he drew the Leopards within two points. A missed three-pointer by Lincoln Gunn followed by a Marcus Harley rebound put the ball in Lafayette’s hands with 26 seconds to play, as coach O’Hanlon took a timeout to draw up a play for the final possession and possible winning shot. The inbound came to point guard Andrew Brown as he would eventually drive the ball to the basket for a semi-contested lay-up, which was just off the mark, ending the game.

This week saw Bucknell become the last Patriot League squad to get a win (at Yale) and Holy Cross become the last to take a loss (at Syracuse). The league has finally fallen a game under .500. On the docket this week: Nine home games for league teams and just six road games (plus a neutral-site Bucknell/George Mason clash).

Gamecenter: American 59, Mount St. Mary’s 46

Key Sequence: The Mount cut their deficit to 37-34 with 12:28 left in the game on a Jeremy Goode trey. Twice the Eagles missed a shot and Mount St. Mary’s had the ball with a shot at tying the game, but they missed both shots. Finally Brian Gilmore hit a three-pointer to put American up by 6. After a timeout, the Mount missed another shot, and Ingram responded with a trey to make the score 43-34. American would never look back, leading by at least 7 the rest of the way.

Gamecenter: Colgate 78, Binghamton 70

Key Sequence: Colgate was down by 4 in the first half. After a Colgate turnover, Binghamton looked like they’d begin pulling away. But a Daniel Waddy block, followed by a Marc Daniels block on the same possession got the ball back to Colgate. On the subsequent offensive possession, Simon pulled up and hit a three to bring Colgate back to within 1.

Gamecenter: Syracuse 72, Holy Cross 64

Key Sequence: With 3:23 left in the game, Cunningham was fouled and hit 3 free throws to bring the score to 62-55. Darryl Watkins missed a shot for the Orange, and Holy Cross had the ball with a chance to make it a two-possession game. However, Nichols stole the ball and scored 2 in transition, reclaiming the momentum for Syracuse and sending the Crusaders into a timeout.
