The Lafayette Leopards stayed with the Indiana Hoosiers for 33 minutes. It was the final 7 that did the Leopards in, as they dropped a 91-66 game to Indiana.

The story of the game was foul trouble for Indiana stars A.J. Ratliff and D.J. White, who combined for just 12 points. Their absence for a lot of the game allowed Lafayette to stay close. Indiana opened a 34-18 lead in the first half, but Lafayette closed to within 5 at halftime and came as close as 1 point from the lead in the second half.

Roderick Wilmont had 24 points for the Hoosiers, and Earl Calloway added 22. The Leopards were paced by Jamaal Hilliard and Bilal Abdullah with 11 points each. Indiana will now battle Butler tomorrow for the right to go to New York City for the semifinals of the Preseason NIT Tournament. Lafayette will play Notre Dame in a consolation game tomorrow.

Keys to the Game
Key sequence White came out with his fourth foul at 19:45, and Ratliff got his fourth and sat down at 15:34 with Lafayette trailing by 4. The Leopards stayed in it but could never take advantage and force a tie. Finally, with the score 63-60 and just under 7 minutes remaining, Errek Suhr hit a three-pointer and Roderick Wilmont added a trey of his own a few seconds later. Indiana had their biggest lead of the second half at 9 and would never let the Leopards back into the game.
Key sign it was over Lafayette called timeout following the Wilmont three-pointer. When the game re-started, Calloway hit two free throws after a Ted Detmer foul, and the Hoosiers quickly grabbed two steals and converted them to lay-ups. Lafayette called another timeout, now down by 15 with 5:15 left.
Key performance Roderick Wilmont had a game-high 24 points for the Hoosiers, including 6 three-pointers in 11 attempts. With Ratliff and White on the bench for much of the game, Wilmont carried the offense and kept Indiana ahead throughout.
Key statistic Indiana outrebounded the undersized Leopards by a 29-15 margin. The Hoosiers had more offensive rebounds (13) than Lafayette had defensive rebounds (8).

Notes
Indiana shot 57.8 percent from the field, compared to 45.2 percent for the Leopards.
Lafayette stayed in the game by getting to the line and hitting shots. They were 22-of-29 from the free throw stripe.
Freshman Andre Hines had another good game, scoring 7 points and grabbing 3 rebounds.
Wilmont, Calloway and Lance Stemler combined for 34 of Indiana’s 64 field goal attempts.
The game was the first-ever battle between Lafayette and Indiana.
