Lehigh again failed to put a notch in their win column, falling 74-68 to Cal State-Northridge to drop to 0-3 on the year. Lehigh drew within 3 points with 2:22 remaining before the Matadors put the game away.
Jose Olivero had a game-high 20 points, but shot just 4-for-14 from the floor, including 0-for-5 from beyond the arc. Most of Olivero’s points came from the free throw line, where he hit 12 of 16 attempts.
The game was tight early on, until the Matadors went on an 11-2 run late in the first half to open up a 28-20 lead. The run was keyed by three-pointers from Calvin Chitwood, Rob Haynes and Jordan Noblitt. Lehigh cut their deficit to 2 by halftime but Cal State-Northridge led the rest of the game.
Lehigh finishes the Basketball Travelers Classic 0-3, with losses to Oregon and Portland State as well as the Matadors. Olivero was named to the All-Tournament Team for averaging 19.7 points per game. The Mountain Hawks open their home schedule Friday night against Cornell.

The Matadors led 57-55 when Jason Hill hit a three. Kyle Neptune missed a shot for Lehigh. Jonathan Heard missed a trey, got his own rebound, and missed another shot, but Terrell Jones got an offensive rebound and was fouled. He hit two free throws to make it a 7-point game. Marquis Hall made a layup, then Austen Powers missed a shot the other way but Jones again grabbed an offensive rebound, was fouled, and hit two free throws. Lehigh continually let the Madators off the hook with offensive boards and lost because of it.

After two Olivero free throws made it a 64-61 game with 2:22 left, Jason Hill converted a three point play. Freshman point guard Marquis Hall was then stripped by Rob Haynes, and Hill hit a three-pointer to extend the lead to 9 with 1:14 left.

Hill led the Matadors with 13 pojnts, including those six straight points to put the game away. He added two assists and two steals before fouling out with 39 seconds left and the game in hand.
