Army came back from a 20-point deficit to tie Missouri, but couldn’t close the deal, falling 67-58 to the Tigers. Jarell Brown had 20 points, including a three-pointer that brought the game to a 42-42 tie after Missouri had built a 34-14 lead.

Missouri stormed out to an early lead, holding a 10-2 advantage less than 4 minutes into the game. After Missouri’s lead reached a peak of 20 points, Army cut it down late in the first half, with a last-second trey by Matt Bell giving the Black Knights a halftime deficit of 38-26.

After the Tigers extended that to 42-26 early in the second half, Army ran off 18 unanswered points, 11 of which came from Brown, to force the tie. However, Missouri reestablished the lead and Army would not again get close.

Bell gave Army 17 points, and Chris Walker added 10. Kalen Grimes and Stefhon Hannah led the Tigers with 18 apiece.

 
Keys to the Game
Key sequence Down by 3 with the ball and under 11 minutes left, Brown attempted a three that was blocked by Keon Lawrence. Going the other way, Matt Lawrence hit a trey. Hannah then stole the ball from Corey Sinning, and Jason Horton hit two free throws. In one game minute, Missouri had taken a one-possession game and made it an 8-point lead.
Key sign it was over Down by 8 with 2:40 left, Corban Bates missed two free throws. Army got the ball back on a Brown rebound but Bell missed a jumper. Grimes was fouled and hit one of two free throws, then after a Chris Walker miss Keon Lawrence hit a three-pointer to make it a 12-point game with a minute and a half left.
Key performance Grimes scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 2 shots. He used his size advantage well, overpowering Army in the paint.
Key statistic Missouri hit 9 of 21 free throw attempts, but offset that by hitting 10 of 18 three-point attempts.
 
Notes
Army held their own on the boards despite being undersized. Missouri had 30 rebounds, Army 29.
Freshman Walker got another start for Army and played a strong game. He finished with 10 points, 8 boards, a block and a steal in 29 minutes.
Brown finished with 4 three-pointers. Bell added 3.
Missouri scored 29 points off of 21 Army turnovers.
Grimes, Hannah and Keon Lawrence combined to take 32 of Missouri’s 49 field goal attempts.
