Lehigh played a close first half with the Oregon, but the Ducks’ firepower was too much as Oregon grabbed a 77-65 victory over the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh was paced by Jose Olivero’s 16 points.
Oregon staked an 8-0 lead to start the game, but Lehigh hung tough, claiming a 25-23 lead with 3:28 left in the first half. However, the Ducks took a commanding lead early in the second half and Lehigh could never get close again.
Oregon had four players in double figures, led by Tajuan Porter with 27. Malik Hairston missed the game with an injury and Aaron Brooks was out with a suspension.
Mountain Hawk freshman point guards Marquis Hall and Matt Shamis saw their first career NCAA action. Hall started and had 8 points and 4 assists in 25 minutes. Shamis added 3 points in 11 minutes.

Keys to the Game |
Key sequence |
After Kyle Neptune tied the game at 26 all with a free throw, Oregon closed out the first half hitting six free throws to take a lead into halftime. Then coming back out, Chamberlain Oguchi hit a three-pointer and then converted a three-point play in the first minute of action. Lehigh would never again come closer than 8 points behind.
|
Key sign it was over |
After a Marquis Hall jumper and three Kyle Neptune free throws cut the deficit from 14 to 9 for Lehigh with 5:49 left, Tajuan Porter hit a three-pointer, then was fouled on another trey attempt and hit all three free throws to put the lead back to 15. Lehigh would not come within 12 again until the final minute.
|
Key performance |
Porter scored 27 for the Ducks, hitting 5 three-pointers and 10 of 11 free throws. He added 5 assists.
|
Key statistic |
Oregon nailed 22 of 24 free throw attempts, including 14 of 16 in the second half. Lehigh could never climb back into the game because every time their defense got too tight, Oregon would go to the line and increase their lead.
