Crusaders face Southern Illinois in Columbus as 13 seed
11 March, 2007by Jake Wilson
Holy Cross received a 13 seed and will take on Southern Illinois in Columbus on Friday, March 16. The 14th-ranked Salukis went 27-6 this season, and won the regular season Missouri Valley championship at 15-3. Game times will be announced Monday.
Slant: Given the other four seeds — Maryland, Texas, and Virginia — Southern Illinois looks like a relatively good matchup for Holy Cross. This game may not feature much in the way of scoring, as both teams are defensive-minded. The Salukis rank 25th nationally at 0.94 points allowed per possession on the season, while the Crusaders are even higher at sixth in the nation, allowing just 0.91 points per possession.
