American took a stranglehold on fourth place in the Patriot League, and an accompanying home game in the league tournament, with a 64-49 win against Army. The Eagles used a 10-0 run in the second half to run away with the victory.
Andre Ingram led the Eagles with 15 points, one of three Eagles in double figures. Brayden Billbe had 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Derrick Mercer added 10 points. After trailing 11-4 at the start of the game, American caught up and took a slight lead into halftime as Ingram scored 10 of his points in the first half.
It was the second half, though, where the Eagles ran away with the game, outscoring Army 16-2 over a 4:24 span. American used stifling defense all game, holding the Black Knights to 34.1 percent shooting and just 1-for-11 shooting from the arc.
Doug Williams scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Knights, and Matt Bell added 10 points. Leading scorer Jarell Brown was held to 6 points on 2-for-12 shooting.
