In one of the lowest-scoring games you’ll see all year, Colgate downed Army 42-38, beating the Black Knights in a close game for the second time this season. Marc Daniels had the key bucket for the Raiders in the final minute.
The numbers tell the story of this game. For Colgate: 30.2 percent from the floor, 35.0 percent from the arc. For Army: 27.5 percent from the floor, 22.2 percent on three-pointers. Both teams shot horribly, and turned the ball over a ton (17 for Colgate, 15 for Army). Additionally, both teams’ star scorer struggled mightily. Colgate’s usual leading scorer Jon Simon scored 7 points on 2-of-9 shooting from the floor. Meanwhile, Jarell Brown of Army scored 7 points on 2-of-12 shooting. Kyle Chones’s 11 points were the game-high.
With all the missed shots, there were plenty of rebounds to go around. Army won the battle of the boards 41-31, with Corban Bates, Matt Bell and John Moonshower grabbing 7 rebounds apiece.
