Just reading the box score is enough to make you wince.

With coach Pat Flannery away for family reasons, his Bucknell family protected their home court to the tune of a 74-49 steamrolling of the Army Black Knights. The Bison shot 9-of-17 from the three-point arc.

Army took a 2-0 lead in the first minute; they would trail by double digits 6 minutes later and trail by 20 points 10 minutes later. Bucknell got a balanced offensive effort: Donald Brown and Jason Vegotsky led the team with 12 points each, with Abe Badmus and Chris McNaughton chipping in 11 apiece. All four of those players broke double figures scoring on 6 or fewer shots from the field. Badmus was 3-for-3 from the arc.

Bucknell’s defense was just as good as its offense. Jarell Brown, the second leading scorer in the league, was held to 14 points on 3-of-8 shooting, and Matt Bell was harassed into 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting. Army was so overrun by the Bison in the first half that the Black Knights didn’t attempt a free throw until 27 minutes into the game.

The freewheeling Bison had 21 turnovers on the game, which was the only thing that kept them from putting even more points on the board. Bucknell outrebounded Army 34-22.

Keys to the Game
Key sequence A little over a minute into the game, with Army up 2-0, Badmus hit a three for Bucknell. After Army missed a shot, McNaughton hit a lay-up, was fouled, and converted the free throw for a three-point play. Bucknell was off to the races, beginning an 18-2 run that would render the game over before it began.
Key sign it was over A Bison 7-0 run, highlighted by a Vegotsky three-pointer, put Bucknell up 33-9 with 5:59 to go in the first half. Even with 26 minutes remaining in the game, there was no way Army was going to climb back into this game.
Key performance Donald Brown had another well-rounded game, posting 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.
Key statistic The Bison shot 57.1 percent from the floor for the game, Army just 34.0 percent.
