Patriot League, ESPNU re-up for 2007-08
16 January, 2007by Jake Wilson
The Patriot League and ESPN have announced an extension of their partnership through the 2007-08 season. The release states that a minimum 12 regular season basketball games (men’s and women’s combined) will be broadcast next year, up from 11 this season. The new agreement also guarantees that all eight Patriot League programs will be eligible to participate in ESPN’s BracketBusters event.
Slant: Coming on the heels of the outstanding job by Patriot League office in putting together a league-wide Internet video package, this is good from a visibility standpoint. Right now ESPNU isn’t available on most carriers, but it figures to be added to more and more systems as time goes on. In the meantime, any decent sportsbar should be able to show the games, which is great news for Patriot League hoops fans living outside of the East Coast.
