A big first half helped Lehigh overcome Navy in the second half and win their seventh game of the season 71-61. Lehigh, despite a pair of rough games to start the season, is now 2-0 in the Patriot League. Navy lost their seventh game of the season and dropped to 0-2 in conference.

This game started off the same way it ended, with a Lehigh 10-2 run. Jose Olivero hit all 3 of his three-pointers in the first half and helped the Mountain Hawks build a comfortable lead. Kyle Neptune contributed in the win with 17 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Navy’s Kaleo Kina scored 23 points, off 9-for-16 shooting. He was 3-for-6 behind the arc and kept the Midshipmen in this game. Navy went on a 7-0 run early on in the second half, coming within 1 point of Lehigh, but could never capitalize when given the opportunity. Kina was the only Midshipman in double figures.

 
Keys to the Game
Key sequence Navy had cut the lead to 61-59 with a Kina three-pointer and had grabbed the rebound off an Olivero miss with 3:36 left in the game Corey Johnson had an open look at a three-pointer of his own but missed off the side of the rim. Lehigh then ran the ball down the court and Phil Anderson hit a short jumper to start a 10-2 run that ended the game for Navy.
Key sign it was over After the Mountain Hawks pushed the lead to 63-59 with just under 3 minutes left, Kyle Neptune hit a clutch three-pointer to basically end the Midshipmen threat.
Key performance Lehigh senior Olivero controlled the floor the entire game. The floor general finished with 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals and hit some big three-pointers, as he finished 3-for-6 behind the arc.
Key statistic Lehigh had 18 points off turnovers, compared to Navy’s 12.
 
Notes
Navy has now hit a three-pointer in 111 consecutive games. The last time Navy did not make one was on Jan. 26, 2003 against Colgate. Navy’s longest consecutive games streak with a three-pointer is 134 games in a row, from 1998 to 2003.
10 out of the 23 shots that Navy made in the game were three-pointers. On the season 151 out of the 381 shots the Midshipmen have made have come from long distance.
This was Lehigh’s first win away from home this season.
Kina scored a season high 23 points for the Midshipmen, only one point away from his career high.
