In a rare game with not one but two dramatic endings, Holy Cross downed Boston University 73-70 in overtime. Colin Cunningham and Tyler Morris exchanged three-pointers in the final 2 seconds of regulation to push it to overtime, where the Terriers missed a potential game-tying three as time ran out.
Holy Cross had control for a lot of the early goings, after using an 8-0 run to put them up 23-12. It would prove to be the largest lead by either team in the game. The Terriers immediately responded with 8 unanswered points of their own to bring the game close, and eventually tied it up at 30-30 just before halftime on a Morris three-pointer.
Coming out of the half, Boston University claimed a brief 3-point lead, but Holy Cross tore off a 10-0 run, including three-pointers by Keith Simmons and Kyle Cruze. The teams continued to jostle for control, with the Terriers again forcing a tie with 5:29 left at 50-50. From there, the Crusaders kept taking the lead and the Terriers kept tying it, as the game was tied at 52 apiece, 55 apiece, and 57 apiece. The Final tie came on two Brian Macon free throws with 1:20 left in the game, setting the stage for the dramatic final exchange of three-pointers.
Overtime was more of the same, with the game being tied at 63 apiece, 64 apiece, 65 apiece, and 69 apiece. The trend finally ended when Corey Lowe missed a free throw with seconds remaining that would have forced another tie.
Lowe scored 24 and Morris 23 for the Terriers, who had no other players in double digits. Simmons led the Crusaders with 21, and Torey Thomas and Tim Clifford added 16 each.

Keys to the Game |
Key sequence |
After the Macon free throws tied the game again at 57, Thomas missed a shot for the Crusaders but Holy Cross got the ball back when Morris was called for an offensive foul with 34 seconds left. Holy Cross held the ball until just 2 seconds remained, when Cunningham drained a three to seemingly win the game. However, off the long inbounds, Morris redeemed himself by hitting a miracle three as time expired to send it to overtime.

Key sign it was over |
With 16 seconds left in OT, Lowe went to the free throw line with his team down by 2. Lowe hit the first try but missed the potential game-tying foul shot, which was rebounded by Greg McCarthy. He was fouled, and hit both shots to make it a 3-point game, and this time the Terriers could not find a miracle three-pointer, with Lowe missing an attempt as time expired.

Key performance |
Simmons continued to live up to his billing, with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals on 44 minutes of play. Simmons stayed on the court for all of the second half and overtime.
|
Key statistic |
In overtime, Holy Cross shot 7-of-8 from the line, while Boston University was a much more pedestrian 8-of-12.
