31 December, 2006In a return game from earlier this year, American lost 81-79 to Longwood in overtime. Maurice Sumter had 7 points in overtime and 16 overall for Longwood. Andre Ingram scored 21 and Arvydas Eitutavicius added 19 for the Eagles. Longwood shot 10-for-17 from the arc.
Holy Cross eked out a 49-47 win over Delaware in the La Salle Invitational. Keith Simmons led the Crusaders with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Delaware did not convert a field goal in the last 9 minutes of the game; Holy Cross failed to do so for the last 5 minutes.
Bucknell bounced back with a 77-59 win over Northern Illinois in the Marist Classic. Donald Brown had a game-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Bison staked a 17-point lead at the half and rode that the rest of the way.
In the league’s nightcap, Lafayette dropped a 78-68 decision to San Diego State. Bilal Abdullah and Matt Betley scored 16 points each for the Leopards. Lafayette’s poor three-point shooting (8-for-28 from the arc) did them in. San Diego State used just 7 players all game, with the five starters all getting at least 33 minutes of playing time.
