Lehigh’s Mgebroff out 6-8 weeks
21 December, 2006According to the Morning Call, Lehigh’s Jason Mgebroff will miss 6 to 8 weeks with a hairline fracture in his left leg. Mgebroff suffered the injury in Lehigh’s win over Division III Haverford last week. Mgebroff was averaging 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Slant: This is obviously horrible news for the Mountain Hawks, who were coming to rely on Mgebroff in the post. Sophomore forward Phil Anderson is 6-10 and can fill in for Mgebroff, but he is not nearly the powerhouse down low that Mgebroff is. Seven-footer John Gourlay may see more time as well. With Anderson presumably moving to center, freshman Zahir Carrington and benched starter Bryan White aught to see an increase in minutes also. Lehigh does not have that much depth nor post presense beyond Mgrebroff.
