Gamecenter: Bucknell 69, Lehigh 56

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Key Sequence: With 8:40 remaining, Neptune threw down a dunk that brought Lehigh within 48-45. McNaughton followed with a jumper to push Bucknell’s lead back out to 5 points. In the next few minutes, the teams exchanged botched possessions: The Bison went 0-for-1 with a turnover, while Lehigh was 0-for-3 with 1 turnover. Finally, Badmus scored a fast-break bucket to further Bucknell’s lead to 7. Lehigh had missed an opportunity to make the game really close, and wouldn’t get that close again.

Gamecenter: Holy Cross 68, Colgate 57

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Key Sequence: With 3:17 left in the first half, Torey Thomas threw an alley-op to Simmons from the three-point line and Simmons finished the play with a strong two-handed dunk that bent the rim down. From that point on until the end of the half, Holy Cross went on a huge 10-1 run and took complete control over the game. This run put Holy Cross up by 9 points at the half, and the lead only grew from there.

Gamecenter: American 71, Navy 60

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Key Sequence: Corey Johnson had a chance at a lay-up on Navy’s first possession of the second half, and missed it. American got the ball back and Lekavicius hit a jumper. Navy’s Bobby Fenske got an open look at a three-pointer on the other end that rimmed out. The Eagles grabbed the rebound on that shot and nailed another jumper. On Navy’s next miss, the Eagles got the ball down on the other end quickly and Ingram hit a three-pointer. That was a 7-0 run that American needed to give them a comfortable cushion to coast to victory.

With each team having just two games left in the regular season, most have begun focusing on seeding and league tournament positioning. To that end, this is a breakdown of potential scenarios this week and what they will mean for the tournament.

Gamecenter: Lafayette 75, Lehigh 71 (2OT)

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

Key Sequence: The opening 9 minutes of this game saw zero points from the Lafayette Leopards. Equally surprising, that they only allowed 11 points to a misfiring Lehigh offense. Lafayette went 0-for-13 during this span and was finally snapped by Andrew Brown on the foul line; their first field goal did not come until the 8:45 mark.
